PLEASE NOTE THIS IS NOT A PUBLIC RECREATION AREA AND IS PRIVATE PROPERTY.

Sopley Lake is a private lake situated behind Sopley Farm PYO, on Derritt Lane which runs from Sopley to Bransgore. The lake is a former gravel pit of around 10 acres in size, of which aggregate was extracted from in the 1980’s then naturally filled with water once the workings were complete. This quiet area surrounded by woodland is available these days for fishing, camping, water sports and as a wedding/events venue.

Venue Hire/Weddings at Sopley Lake

Set in a beautiful idyllic woodland location on the edge of The New Forest, Sopley Lake is the ideal venue for your wedding reception, special party or corporate event and is available to hire from mid April to October.

We have a large, secluded area to the side of the Lake which is surrounded by trees where a tent or marquee can be placed, with stunning views of the lake. We also have to offer ample parking, toilets and fresh water. Our shepherds hut, log cabin and camping pod accommodation can also be hired for your party if you wish to stay over.

Fishing at Sopley Lake – MEMBERS ONLY, 8AM – 6PM

The lake will be CLOSED for fishing at weekends (6pm Friday – 11am Sunday) if there is an event on, however we will endeavour to contact members via email in advance but do call the office to check. 

  1. Anyone found fishing without a membership card will be banned from fishing the lake.
  2. Entrance to the lake is via the gate on Derritt Lane for the “pick your own” next to the Farm Shop.
  3. Vehicles are to be parked in the car park with members car passes on display at all times. Vehicles are NOT to be driven around the lake.
  4. No 24 hour fishing available.
  5. All fish are to be returned to the water in landing nets or mats as soon as possible. Never should they be carried back or thrown in.
  6. Please ensure landing nets have been disinfected prior to arrival.
  7. A current rod license must be held.
  8. Barbless hooks only are to be used and no braided main line.
  9. The use of nut baits, bait boats and leadcore leaders is also not allowed.
  10. Toilets are available close to the lake. Please use them as anyone found excreting in the bushes will be asked to leave.
  11. All litter and unused bait should be taken home with you.
  12. Please do not light any fires and be considerate with noise. No music or parties allowed.
  13. Strictly no alcohol is permitted.
